Swimming Lessons, Round 2

We enrolled Lauren in her second round of swimming lessons (she took her first round this time last spring when she was around a year old). If possible she loves it even more this year than she did last year. She looks forward to visiting the turtle (below) and then cries when she has to leave the turtle. There are long, tearful goodbyes. "Bye turtle..." (sob, sob) "see you later, turtle" (panicked breathing as she looks over her shoulder and waves goodbye).

We just have a few lessons left, and I think we'll all miss them, but we're looking forward to some serious pool time this summer.

She is the most amazing kicker you've ever seen. I know I'm partial, but seriously, the best kicker in the class. Hands down. Flutter, of course. Which is good because she'll be a backstroker or freestyler all the way, it's a no-brainer.

Look how happy she is. And look how happy Sean is. He told me it's his favorite hour of the week. What a dad.

Even though this photo is terrible I had to include it. At the end of each class they get to take a trip down the slide. Lauren loves it, and always requests another turn, but if I had to judge from only her face I would say she finds it terrifying. Absolutely terrifying.

Swim Lessons

We recently finished up Lauren's first round of swimming lessons. She did so great. She was cautious about the water at first (she's a cautious baby, after all), but was an absolute natural. She has the most natural kick I've ever seen (and remember I used to teach swimming lessons for a living, folks). She like to stick her face in, and although she just swallowed water instead of blowing bubbles, we'll get there. She also tolerated going under. She wasn't giddy crazy about any of it, but she didn't ever cry, which was good. We're going to call Round 1 of swimming lessons a success.

Lauren is Three Months Old!

The picture above was taken on Lauren's three month birthday. So far she's pretty patient with me and the camera. She is so much fun right now, she smiles at us, laughs, coos...but she's not mobile so we don't have to chase her.

The picture below is Sean holding Lauren on her return flight home from CT.

Lauren went on her first lake trip last weekend, to a friend's house at Weatherby Lake. We put Lauren in the water for just a few minutes. At first she wasn't too happy about the cold water, but then she got over it, but just barely. She wasn't really happy about it, but she tolerated it.

A couple of weeks ago I took Lauren over to Lawrence to see Arie and stay the night. We bought the bed below for travel, it just pops up and then collapses. Lauren seemed to like it, she slept like she normally does. Baby burrito.

I go back to work in a few weeks, and right now we're just trying to enjoy my remaining time home. Lauren is such a blast right now.
